Playing With Magic

Do you like magic, spells and mana? Find out what indie games with magical theme stand out for their originality and unusual plots.

Dungeon Scroll 2.0 (Robinson Technologies)

At first glance, Dungeon Scroll looks like a first-person dungeon crawl in the style of the old Dungeons & Dragons PC RPGs. If you spend more than five seconds with the game, though, you'll realize that all the fantasy trappings are just window dressing for a fiendishly difficult and addictive word puzzle game. The concept is simple: You're given eight letters at the start of each dungeon, and you battle the creepy inhabitants (such as snakes, skeletons, and zombies) by forming words from these letters. The amount of damage you inflict and the points you rack up are based on the length and complexity of the words you devise.

Bricks Of Camelot (Arcade Lab)

Join the epic adventures of Camelot in this action packed brick buster with power-ups and special effects out of this world. Collect treasures, armory and gold as you travel through the King's castles, the dark dungeons, the Sherwood forest and lots of other exciting places. Bricks of Camelot has a great theme. It runs smooth, has nice-looking graphics, and is everything you could expect from your regular Arkanoid-game. Additional interactive elements include a torch that ignites nearby bricks, an axe that explodes into several smaller hatchets when hit and eagles that take wing across the display, dropping gems from their talons.

BraveDwarves 2 (GameOver-Games)

The underground kingdom is in deep trouble. The Great Evil came and drove the poor dwarves out of their home. The elders had a meeting and decided to send two brave dwarves to fight and defeat the Evil. In BraveDwarves 2 you play for two courageous dwarves embarked on a dangerous adventure. One of them is a magician and the other is a warrior. With the help of various weapons they are to sweep the Evil out of the ancient caves and let the dwarves come back and resume work. Here is what's cool about BraveDwarves - on the way the dwarves can pick up Power Orbs: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Power orbs are the sources of incantations and can be used as weapons if powered up by diamonds.
