Wii Downloadable Games - Great Content Direct to Your Console

There is certainly no shortage of games for the Wii these days. As you read this, there have been over 150 games released for the console of varying quality. The problem is with modern console game is the price. Gone are the days where an interesting looking game could be bought on a whim, so gamers are left with the choice between taking a big gamble on a game or sticking with "safe" products that aren't particularly innovative, but will provide entertainment.

However there is hope at hand. With the advent of downloadable games on the PC, a whole new market for games has opened up where games can be bought cheaply again. What's most exciting about this relatively new development is the chance for bedroom developers with plenty of creative imagination to release a game to the product that a few years ago would not have been possible.

The best news of all is that the downloadable game craze has now started to spread to consoles, and with Wii in particular. Nintendo Wii downloadable games are available on the virtual console, but these are restricted to old Nintendo games, which while fun are not new or innovative (even if they were at the time of release). More exciting by far is independent companies springing up that allow downloads of brand new games, plus other content like TV shows and films for a one off price. The great things about these companies is the fast download speed and wide range of choice for a fraction of the cost of buying games in stores.
