Is the Spore Game For You?

If you are an avid gamer that enjoys titles such as Crysis and Call of Duty, then Spore is probably not for you. This game is going to appeal to a wide range of players, possibly the widest range in gaming history. Evolved from the very successful The Sims game, Spore is going to be the ground-breaking game of the year and may possibly become the most played game ever. Spore game designer, Will Wright, has come up with a brilliant concept which is letting you build your very own virtual universe from nothing ... but a spore! As the player comes out of one evolutionary phase, what he, or she, did in the preceding phase will strongly affect how they start in the next phase of the spore game. As you work through each step, the tasks will become increasingly more difficult and so this will definitely be a challenging game.

If you enjoyed The Sims with its interactive game play, building and buying stuff, you are really going to be addicted to this new game. You start out with a single cell organism and it is up to you how you evolve your creatures from the primordial soup. I don't think there is such a thing as an end to this game. Once you have your creature, then there is the tribe you can create. From there you can build a civilization and then on to your very own universe and space. At this level gamers will be able to use tools, like water and terra-forming, to tinker with their universe.

There are countless of creations to be made and shared. Upload your own design and let other spore players use them as well. The creation tools that Spore provides you with are going to give you hours, or days, of fun creating, building and sharing your own universe. This game is going to be hugely popular with female gamers and I predict they will eventually rule the Spore cosmos.

Addicted to Spore already? You can find a selection of Spore starter kits and much more here at Spore Games And if you are really serious about Spore, why not follow the ultimate Spore Blog

Nintendo Wii Review

The all new Nintendo Wii, introduced in the fall of 2006, has become a great success in the game box battle competing with Sony's Playstation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. So what makes Wii so appealing, that they are sold out in stores within hours of being stocked. Compared to the other next generation game consoles the graphics are nothing to get exited about. What Wii has managed to do, is get people off the couch to have some fun. The new system is easy for all age groups to play from the 5 year old child to the grandmother. The other thing so appealing about the Wii is the price is about half that of the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360. The size is also about half that of it's competitors, and with the ease of setting up it is much more portable. The popularity of the new system has caused sales to outpace supplies. The easiest way to buy a Wii is online. You can always find a vendor selling new units on Ebay.

The most innovative part of the system is the TV remote looking controller. Instead of the traditional two-handed device, the Wii's wireless controller is a rectangular device with an array of sensors, wireless transmitters, and receivers that communicate with the base station through a sensor bar. Game designers love finding new uses for the Wii Remote. In a tennis game, it becomes a racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it becomes a steering wheel. The possibilities are endless! The Wii Remote also packs a speaker, rumble feature, and external extension connector for other input devices, like the classic controller or the new Nunchuk with the same sensor technology.

What really makes a game system popular is the games exclusive to the system. The included game Wii Sports is an addictive tech demo that provides for tons of single and multi player fun. Tennis, golf, and baseball work just like one would expect, and when you plug in the Nunchuk the boxing mini game can really help you work up a sweat. For the more traditional hit games Nintendo has upgraded Super Mario Brothers with Super Mario Galaxy and the popular Legends of Zelda with the release of Twilight Princess. New games like Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party and Guitar Hero III has revolutionized the way games are played. Nintendo has also come out with the new Wii Zapper to use with games like Crossbow Training and Medal of Honor: Heros 2. Just slide the remote into the barrel and the Nunchuk in the rear and you are ready for any shooter game.

The Wii would not be ranked with the next generation of gaming consoles without an online component. Wii comes standard with Wi-Fi capabilities, which makes it simple to connect to a home wireless network. Once online you start with the Wii channels which include Shop, Weather, News, Mii and more. The Mii channel is where you can create 3D avatars that can interact with other Miis all over the world. In specific games, such as the included Wii Sports, your created Mii can be the main character. Up to ten Miis can be stored on a controller, so you'll be able to bring your characters to a friend's house without needing any sort of memory card. The Channel interface is intuitive and shows how even the most basic tasks can be revitalized thanks to the Wiimote.

Nintendo made the Wii a great success by making it simple and fun for everyone at an affordable price. It is also more popular in other countries. It may be hard to get, but it is well worth the effort.

Double Dragon Arcade Review

Double Dragon: The predecessor to all of the arcade fighting smash hits such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Virtua Fighter and about a dozen others.

How come Double Dragon is never talked about in the same breadth as those games?

One can't help but wonder would all of those 90s arcade fighters have come out if it wasn't for Double Dragon? Prior to everybody lining up and waiting to put quarters into Street Fighter II, Double Dragon was the game everybody waited in line for,

While the game may not hold up as well as once did, Double Dragon was the first real brawler that became an arcade hit. The story was based around a guy (or 2 guys, if you were playing co-op) who has to get his girlfriend back. He goes through al these levels and has to beat up a gang of hoodlums who have taken her hostage.

Every level has enough depth to keep you coming back for more. The difficulty progresses just perfectly as to help the gamer get used to the controls.

The control system of Double Dragon was quite unique for its time. First of all the game had 3 buttons. It seemed like almost every arcade had at most two buttons. Hitting the buttons in a different combination would make the character pull of a new move. Obviously these are things that are commonplace in games now, but at that time, they were considered groundbreaking.

Hopefully gamers could take another look back and give this game the credit it truly deserves.

Guitar Hero III - Legends of Rock - What's it Like Then?

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a music video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision and RedOctane. It's the third major release in the Guitar Hero series of music video games, in which players use a special guitar-shaped game controller to simulate the playing of rock music.

This is one of the latest installments in the Guitar Hero series, bringing with it more music, a better interface, and a wireless guitar controller for the Wii. It is, as the name suggests a rocking game with a varied tracklist that will appeal to all, and of course it is also a music game that places the player in a band as the lead guitarist or rhythm guitarist or bassist as in co-op multiplayer. He or she "plays" famous (or not so famous) songs from the 70's all the way to the modern day and this is available both individually and in bundles packaged with wireless controllers.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a ton of fun and you will have a blast playing it as it certainly is a legend in the making, but just don't go overboard thinking this is your ticket to the American Idol! The game is rated T for "Teen," but is already a big hit with guitarists of all ages and is just a treat to play, offering all of the elements that hardcore fans of the series have been clamoring for all these years.

There are a ton of online features as well as some subtle yet important tweaks in the gameplay which make it more accessible to newcomers, yet still fun to play and challenging for masters of the game.

That's a good thing for Wii owners, because many an opinion says that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is far and away the best game in the series.
